10 Year Guarantee

While we're incredibly proud to offer such an extensive warranty, the truth is that it's not as difficult as it may seem. Today's technology and materials make it entirely possible to manufacture products that are built to last.

Most companies choose not to use these high-quality materials, either because they want customers to keep coming back and buying replacements, or because they want to maximize profits by cutting costs.

We don't believe in either of those practices. Our goal is for you to enjoy your Kappiton mattress for as long as possible. And if you choose to buy from us again, we hope it's because you're furnishing the other bedrooms in your home—or buying mattresses for your children or your parents.

Why a guarantee of 10 years?

We do what we do for two reasons: people and the planet.

At the risk of sounding sentimental, we do it because we genuinely care.

Did you know that around 40 million mattresses are discarded every year in Europe, and more than half of them end up in landfills?

Just as we care about people, we also want to be part of the solution—not the problem. That's why we design our mattresses to last as long as possible, and we back them with a warranty that reflects that commitment.

Kappiton Guarantee

Kappiton Mattresses: 10-Year Warranty (including the statutory legal warranty)

Kappiton Mattress Covers: 3-Year Warranty

Kappiton provides this Limited Warranty for its mattresses and their corresponding covers (collectively referred to as the "Product"), valid in the country where the Product was originally purchased.

The total warranty period for mattresses is 10 (ten) years from the original date of purchase, including the 3-year statutory legal warranty required under Portuguese law.

Mattress covers are covered by a 3 (three) year warranty, corresponding to the statutory legal warranty period, exclusively against manufacturing defects.

1. Legal Framework

Under Portuguese Decree-Law No. 84/2021 of October 18, consumers purchasing movable goods in Portugal benefit from a 3 (three) year statutory legal warranty covering any lack of conformity.

During this period, consumers are entitled, as provided by law, to have the Product brought into conformity through repair, replacement, an appropriate price reduction, or termination of the purchase contract.

For the first 2 (two) years, any lack of conformity is presumed to have existed at the time of delivery unless proven otherwise.

This commercial warranty applies after the statutory legal warranty expires, extending the total mattress warranty coverage to 10 years from the original purchase date.

Nothing in this warranty limits or excludes any statutory consumer rights.

2. Warranty Period

Mattresses

Total warranty period: 10 years from the original purchase date.

  • Years 0–3: Statutory legal warranty.
  • Years 3–10: Kappiton Commercial Warranty.

Mattress Covers

Warranty period: 3 years from the original purchase date, covering manufacturing defects only.

The warranty period begins on the date shown on the original proof of purchase.

3. Who Is Covered

This warranty applies exclusively to the original purchaser of the Product and requires valid proof of purchase.

The warranty is personal, non-transferable, and automatically terminates if the Product is sold, gifted, or otherwise transferred to another owner.

4. What Is Covered

Mattress

During the commercial warranty period (Years 3–10), coverage is limited to manufacturing and material defects, including:

  • Visible body impressions exceeding 4 cm (1.6 inches) that are not caused by an unsuitable foundation or improper use.
  • Cracks, splits, or abnormal deterioration of the foam under normal use.
  • Structural manufacturing defects that compromise the integrity of the mattress.

To remain eligible for warranty coverage, the mattress must be used on a firm and structurally suitable foundation.

For slatted bed bases:

  • Each slat must be at least 5 cm (2 inches) wide.
  • The spacing between slats must not exceed 9 cm (3.5 inches).
  • The bed frame must be suitable for supporting both the mattress and its intended users.

Mattress Cover

During the 3-year warranty period, coverage is limited to:

  • Manufacturing defects in workmanship.
  • Structural stitching defects.
  • Zipper defects resulting from manufacturing errors.

5. Warranty Exclusions

This warranty does not cover:

  • Misuse, negligence, abuse, or accidental damage.
  • Damage caused by an unsuitable foundation or inadequate support.
  • Stains, liquid damage, moisture, mold, mildew, or odors.
  • Burns, cuts, tears, or other physical damage.
  • Improper washing or care of the mattress cover.
  • Normal wear and tear resulting from regular use.
  • The natural softening of materials over time.
  • Personal comfort preferences.
  • Products sold as used, refurbished, or display models.

6. Warranty Evaluation Process

Kappiton reserves the right to request detailed photographs of the alleged defect, additional supporting documentation, or to require either an in-person or remote inspection.

The Product must be properly installed on an appropriate foundation at the time of evaluation.

The final determination regarding whether a defect is covered under this commercial warranty shall be made solely by Kappiton based on its technical assessment.

7. Warranty Resolution

During the first 3 years, consumers are entitled to the remedies provided under applicable Portuguese consumer protection law.

During the commercial warranty period (Years 3–10), if a covered defect is confirmed, Kappiton will, at its sole discretion, repair or replace the Product.

Any repaired or replaced Product will remain covered only for the remainder of the original warranty period. The original 10-year warranty period will not restart.

After the statutory legal warranty has expired, transportation costs may apply unless the defect is confirmed to be the result of a manufacturing fault.

8. Customer Responsibilities

To maintain warranty eligibility, customers must:

  • Use the Product on a suitable and structurally sound foundation.
  • Follow all care and maintenance instructions.
  • Keep the original proof of purchase.
  • Report any defect within a reasonable period after discovering it.
  • Cooperate with any requested warranty inspection.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law:

  • Kappiton's liability is limited to the amount originally paid for the Product.
  • Kappiton shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.
  • This warranty does not affect or limit any statutory consumer rights available under applicable law.
